Understanding Non-Coding RNAs: Exploring Epigenetics and Vascular Biology Together

At the Espinosa Diez Lab, we're all about researching the fascinating realms of epigenetic modifications, non-coding RNAs, and vascular biology. We're committed to doing rigorous and exciting science and having a blast while at it!

Our core research revolves around one question: How do cancer therapies shape the epigenetic landscape of vascular cells, potentially giving rise to long-term vascular complications?  To solve this puzzle, we focus our efforts on two main areas of study: First, we explore the response of long-non-coding RNAs to different anti-cancer agents. Second, we investigate the pivotal role these long-non-coding RNAs play in vascular remodeling during disease progression across diverse contexts. Leveraging innovative techniques such as lineage fate mapping and Cas9-mediated transcriptional and epigenetic reprogramming, we strive to comprehensively understand angiogenesis and vascular remodeling, both in vitro and in vivo.

But it's about more than just the science for us. We are fully committed to helping our trainees grow and succeed in their careers. We believe in tailoring their development opportunities to match their unique interests and ambitions. Whether they want to be academic researchers or pursue other exciting paths, we're here to support them every step of the way. We have targeted mentoring plans for everyone at any stage and will help you identify complementarily mentors matching your professional and research interest. Moreover, during your time in the lab, we provide comprehensive support and access to tools that empower you to excel in all facets of scientific communication, from manuscript preparation and grant writing to delivering impactful scientific presentations.

We know that our team comprises incredible individuals from diverse backgrounds, and we celebrate that! We value open communication, embracing each person's different perspectives and experiences. We believe that by fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, we can learn from one another and achieve groundbreaking discoveries together.

If you are a curious and motivated individual who shares our core values, we invite you to join our growing and vibrant team. We don't expect you to have all the knowledge right from the start, but we would love you to be interested in learning more about our favorite lncRNAs.
